Medical Aid Society of Malawi (MASM) became the first titleholders of the inaugural K500 000 Afrox Social Netball tournament on the 24th of January following their 19-16 victory over their runners-up Vanguard Sisters in the finals played at the College of Medicine sports complex in Blantyre.

Saturday, July 19, 2008 will go down in the history of social football at MASM as a day to remember. It was the day MASM men's social football team proved that they are a force to reckon with on the domestic social football scene when they won gold at the seven-aside Samaritan Trust tournament which took place at Green Corner Off-Chikwawa Road. To a good number of the players, this was their first ever football medal and as such is considered priceless. The tournament saw, among others, KPMG, Reserve Bank of Malawi (RBM) and Blantyre Newspapers Limited (BNL) fall along the way.

Medical Aid Society of Malawi (MASM)and NBS bank have entered into an agreement aimed at making their services accessible countrywide through NBS Branches and Agencies. This is admittedly the newest product from MASM under the name, MASM @ Ur Door Step.

Mzuzu based golfer Thom Malopa ensured that the MASM golf tourney prized number one prize remain in the city when he beat an army of golfers at the Mzuzu Golf Club course to win his first competitive tournament of the year.

In a bid to improve the quality of services to its 92,000 membership throughout the country, the Medical Aid Society of Malawi (MASM) has opened Katoto ADMARC Clinic in Mzuzu. Minister of Health and Population Khumbo Kachali, who was the guest of honour, said it is the joint responsibility of government and the private sector to address the health care needs of a nation.

The Medical Aid Society of Malawi (MASM) says the growth of the healthcare industry in Malawi would have been possible if government were to regulate it.  MASM Chief Executive Officer Sydney Chikoti said it is possible without regulation for a "briefcase" company to set up and collect funds from people and close shop without providing the service.

MASM will soon introduce a new three digit hotline number for its Emergency Medical Service (EMS) facility that can easily be remembered in times of emergencies.

I have been on MASM’s VIP Scheme for some time now and never had any problem until last year when I had an eye problem. My doctor recommended that I acquire spectacles. At an optical centre I was told to collect a letter from MASM for them to give me the glasses and it took ages and a lot of effort for MASM to give me the letter while I was in great pain.........
